By now, I would guess, you have figured out just how crazy I am about trees. So it may come as no surprise to you that when deciding on a theme for our wedding we chose "trees".
This is an early "mock-up" of the invites we sent out... apologies for the crumpled state of it, but it was only a first attempt: the ones that went out to our guests were in a much better state! As you can see, we have started to incorporate the theme of autumn leaves from the first glance our guests will have of our wedding day.
I have several ideas for following this through on the day itself, but the biggest one is perhaps the table names themselves. Each table is to be named after a tree, and I have set about creating some table decorations to match - here is my first attempt:
I am a long way from being a great artist, but I just love the simplicity of this design and am working on a whole series to frame and place in the centre of each table, along with a few fresh autumn flowers. So personal, and something I can treasure for years to come as well.
I am also in the midst of collecting interesting facts about each tree, to create little "info sheets" to place at each table. I plan on backing them with autumn coloured card, to tie in with the invites, and then write out eight unique facts about each leaf (as there will be eight people at each table). The idea behind this is that it gives the guests something to share amongst themselves, to get them talking with guests they may not know.
For example, did you know that the Oak Tree is associated with the god Mars, but that they were originally protectors of the homestead and their current connection to "war" comes from the role they played in 'protecting' one's land against threats?
Oooh, I love a good bit of trivia!

That is so great! We had our wedding in the fall and used all fall colors and actually had a tree on our program. It was so great!

You can never go wrong relating things to trees, especially something as special as your wedding. 40,000 words? Keep going don't judge if it is worth it until you have finished it. Good luck. Thanks for the visit, Carolina
