Eeek!
It's Thursday 20th June which means only one thing... I'm heading to London tomorrow for BritMums Live 2013! If you haven't seen my Intro Linky you can find it here.
I am super excited about it, I cannot tell you. You may remember that last year I came back from the event so enthused for blogging, but then in recent months have come very close to giving up. And all because I felt I had lost my voice and couldn't write what I wanted to, even though this was my very own personal space.
So...
I've moved the HG work to a dedicated site
I have written about my faith and spirituality and why I want to include these more in what I write on here.
I am making changes... slowly...
And so I am hoping that meeting so many wonderful bloggers over this weekend will remind me the beauty of this community and why I wish to remain a part of it. For me that is what it is about this year, not growing a blog but exploring the community.
So with that in mind, I have opted to "skive" a couple of sessions and simply chill out in The Hub with a cup of herbal tea and my trusty crochet hook and yarn. I'll try and sit myself near the BritMums Butterflies area so that anyone else who is skipping that session can come and rest their weary legs (and minds) with a cuppa and a chat too.
And I just hope to see some "old" friends and meet some new ones this year. Maybe I'll see/meet you during one of the sessions I am planning on attending.
This is me and Luschka from Diary of a First Child taken at last year's BritMums Live... This year I'll be sporting a wonky fringe that I randomly decided to cut myself last weekend, but other than that I look the same! If you see me, come and say "hi"... and let's take some photos to remember the weekend by, I love photos but only have 4 from last year!
Here's my current thoughts on my agenda for the weekend:
Friday
1pm - pre-event meet up at Starbucks (with ladies from the Facebook BritMums Butterflies Group)
2pm - registration (trying to remember to sign up for a space on the Literary Agent Dragons' Den - there are 28 spaces available on a first come, first served basis and there are, I think, 500 bloggers attending, so I'm hoping they aren't all signed up before I get there!)
3pm - welcome & keynote
I am unsure of the rest of the afternoon... it all depends on whether I have a slot with one of the literary agents and if that clashes with the afternoon workshops. If it does I shall skip the workshop, go to my slot, wander round the Hub before skipping out early. If it doesn't (or I don't manage to get a slot) I shall be going to The New Feminism session at 5pm
I am skipping the BiBs because I am both meeting an old friend for a drink and then going on a "date night" with my husband - the first one since last year's BritMums weekend!!
Saturday
9:15 - welcome & keynote
10:05 - Finding your voice and what makes good writing
11:30 - I am completely torn between Are we really addicted to the internet and using your smartphone to create video so will make my mind up at the last minute I guess
12:20 - I think I will "skive" this session and have a little sit down in the Hub with my crochet and a cuppa
14:10 -Social Media: Activating your network. This will be useful for work... however if it is a really busy session (like a couple were last year) I may well go to Blogging with heart, for support. The only reason I am not making this my first choice is that I went to a similar session last year.
15:00 - again I am torn. I shall most likely go to Photography, as I loved Julia Boggio's session last year. However I may be swayed in to attending the Blogging for good: how to blog better working with charities instead, it depends on how I'm feeling and whether I want to go to a session for my personal blog or the HG one.
16:40 onwards - keynote & bloggers keynote. I missed this last year so unless I am completely done in by this point I shall be looking forward to staying for it this year!
So tell me, are you attending any of these sessions? Fancy meeting up?
